James E Phelps had his prayers answered to once again reunite with his wife, Mary Ann Phelps and son, Edwin Alton Phelps on April 4th, 2012 at 6:15am. His final days were spent surrounded by his loved ones, Ed Phelps (father) and Kenny Phelps (brother). James born 9/22/1948 had fought for our country as an Air Force veteran during Vietnam and there soon after had started his life and settled down with wife, Mary Ann and children, Edwin Phelps and Chris Phelps in Nashville Tn. James life would seem too short to many, but those who were touched by him realize that the quality of his existence far exceeded the quantity of time in which he spent in our lives. His caring words of wisdom added with his unique style and humour had an impact on everyone he touched. James ability to be that genuine individual that was loved by us all was crippled through the loss of his son, Edwin Phelps and the soon after passing of his wife, Mary Ann. For all though, he made a great effort to disguise his emotions it was a lost effort to those who knew him and loved him. Though in his heart he wanted so much to stay in our lives his heart was devoted too deeply to the life he had lost. You will be missed deeply and will remain in our thoughts and in our hearts forever, until the day we can all reunite again. James Phelps survived by his loving father, Ed Phelps; brother Kenny Phelps; sister, Linda Mathews; his son, Chris Phelps and grandchildren. Visitation with the family will be Saturday, 10 a.m. until service time at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of Madison Funeral Home.
