Oleda Magdaline Miller Rudy, born May 11, 1923 in Davidson County to the late Elzie and F. Caroline Miller. She was the wife of Jacob Frank Rudy, Sr. Frank was co-founder of Rudy Farm Sausage Company, which began in the 1930's. Frank preceded her in death in 1981. She later remarried Bob Lundquist, who also preceded her in death. She is also preceded in death by late brother Herbert Winfrey Miller.
Oleda is survived by three daughters, Katherine Caroline Rudy, Patricia Oleda Rudy Woods (George Ron Woods), Mary Frances Rudy and son Jacob Frank Rudy, Jr; Sister Jane Miller (late Jimmy) Greenway; Brother Norman Wayne Miller (Nancy); Thirteen grandchildren, William Moore (Emily), Christopher Rudy Moore, Patrick Moore (Rahny), Ron Woods, Jr. (Mallory), Tricia Woods Ramsey (Allen), Allison Woods Egan (Chrisopher), Kimberly Gleaves Roberts (John), Laura Gleaves Mitchell (Brian), Rebekah Gleaves Sanderlin (Bobby), John Gleaves (Amy), Jacob Frank Rudy, III (Kristin), Ashley Rudy Burch (Doug), and Houston Rudy (Jessi); Forty-one Great-Grandchildren; and special Caregivers Barbara and Don Hill. Oleda grew up in Donelson and became involved in the community. She was a charter member of the Free Will Baptist Church (now The Donelson Fellowship) located at 3210 McGavock Pike. She served in all areas of the church in the beginning years. Her daughters began singing in that church. It was at the church that her daughters formed a gospel-singing group known as The Rudy Sisters, singing on radio, local television programs and even on the Grand Ole Opry.
The family will receive friends at The Donelson Fellowship (located at 3210 McGavock Pike in the Donelson Area of Nashville) from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Monday evening and again one hour prior to the service Tuesday morning. Services will be held from 11:00 a.m. until noon at The Donelson Fellowship with interment following at Hermitage Memorial Gardens on Shute Lane.
