Dr. Janice Elaine Williams Baldwin born September 4, 1954 in Manchester, Tennessee surrendered her earthly burdens at the feet of Jesus and received her heavenly crown on May 6, 2024.
“Children, know that even if I die today, the Lord has heard and answered your prayers.” - Dr. Jan Baldwin, to the student body of Davidson Academy while serving in April 2017 as Head of the Lower School.
Amid her hardest battles, she used her every breath fearlessly to praise the God who made her with the purpose of leading those around her to His feet, cloaked with strength and dignity using her words to provide love and kindness. Intentionally taking every opportunity to teach and guide all who knew her. She was courageous in her belief of the Father’s ability to help all achieve the unachievable.
Her legacy lives in the seeds she planted within us. As the wind blows testing the roots of the tree, her prayers of protection are there. As the birds sing their praise for His provision each morning, her prayers for provisions that can only come from Him are there. As the flowers reach their faces to the sky in thankfulness of His light, her prayers of thankfulness are there. As children find joy and laughter in the day that He has made, her prayers of joy are there. As students seek His teachings in earnest, her prayers for your acceptance of His love and redemption are there.
Preceded in death by her father, Earl Williams, and mother, Dessie Dean Williams. Survived by her husband of almost 50 years and love of her life, Fred Baldwin; daughter and son-in-law, Dana and JP King, grandchildren Collin and Cate; son and daughter-in-law, Drew and Leah Baldwin, grandchildren Boone, Anna Belle, Barrett, and Truett; daughter and son-in-law, Dawn and Kevin Callas grandchildren Blake, Scarlett, Lucy, and Sutton; siblings Patsy (Larry) Lund, Jimmy (Linda) Williams, and Sherry Gernat.
