WHITSETT, Geraldine "Ridge" Carter, age 86, passed away December 10, 2013. Preceded in death by husband, George C. Carter, Sr.; son, George C. Carter, Jr., parents, Irby S. and Irene Clement Ridge: sister Rowena Ferguson; Survived by husband, Thurman L. Whitsett; sister, Patricia Ridge Salvatore Redgate, FL; children and their spouses, Michael J. (Anna) Carter, Katherine "Kay" (Marc) Sandlin, Maryville TN., Marie (Dale) Anderson, Kingston TN., Paul C. (Andrea) Carter, Alcoa, TN.; nine grandchildren, eight great grandchildren. She was a dedicated volunteer, friend, co-worker and sometimes mentor within various organizations including her church for over 50 years, the CYO, the Nashville and Madison Chamber of Commerce, the Heart Association, Square Dancers Association, Clock Collector's Association and other civic leagues and charitable organizations. Receiving Friends will be held at the Madison Funeral Home on Sunday, December 15, 2013, beginning at 5:00 p.m. with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be held at Saint Joseph Catholic Church on Monday, December 16, 2013,11:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park.
