John Welch Boyte Jr., aged 93, recently of Hendersonville, passed away on November 4, 2021, in Madison.
Mr. Boyte’s Funeral Service will be held at Madison Funeral Home, 219 East Old Hickory Boulevard, Madison Tennessee at noon on Thursday, November 11, 2021, with Reverend David Taft of Dickerson Road Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery, 660 Thompson Lane, Nashville. Visitation will be held at Madison Funeral Home at 11 am on Thursday, November 11, Madison Funeral Home will be handling the arrangements.
Mr. Boyte was born to Martha Hopkins Boyte and John Boyte Sr. on July 25, 1928 in Nashville. He graduated from North Nashville High School and has enjoyed many of his class reunions. He belonged to Cofer’s Chapel Free Will Baptist Church as a child and young man
and has belonged to Dickerson Road Baptist Church for more than 50 years. For most of that time, he taught Sunday School and joyfully sang bass in the choir. Mr. Boyte was proud of his naval service at the end of World War II. Mr.Boyte also worked for the Sears Company for much of his working life where he enjoyed selling vacuum cleaners and sewing machines. When personal computers came on the market, they were sold in his department. He enjoyed learning about them so that he could help his customers.
Mr. Boyte is survived by a daughter, Melissa Andelman and her husband, Charles Andelman, and their children Joseph and Rachel Andelman, all of Massachusetts and his brother, David F. Boyte of California. He has many nieces and nephews and enjoyed especially close relationships with his nephew, Fred Smith of Etsel Springs, Tennessee and his niece Patricia Cherry Russell of Goodlettsville.
Mr. Boyte was predeceased by Janelle Cherry Boyte, his wife of 65 years and Cheri Boyte, his daughter. He was also predeceased by his parents, a brother , Paul Boyte and three sisters, Donna Ruth Ticer, Frances Smith, and Naomi Haynie.
Mr. Boyte will be missed by his large family and many friends.
