John Hillman Brown of Madison, TN, age 92, passed away on Tuesday, December 26, 2017.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 66 years, Jean; parents Fabe and Virgie Brown; brothers Scott, Cecil, Frank, and Charlie; sisters Dixie, Cora, and June.
He is survived by devoted children Sandy, John, and Jan, sisters-in-law Lorraine Brown and Marie Stancliff; several nieces and nephews, and special friends Herman Coleman and Harold Goins.
Born and raised in Kentucky, he was a World War II Navy Veteran. He taught at David Lipscomb College for 39 years.
He preached for over 57 years in various church of Christ congregations in Davidson and Wilson counties, including Center Chapel, Central Pike, Pleasant Hill, 7th Avenue, and Philippi.
Active pallbearers are Michael Bryan, Craig Baggett, David Stancliff, Randy Stancliff, David Hood, Ricky Tignor, and Jacob Strait.
Honorary pallbearers are James Brown, and the past and present elders and deacons of Center Chapel church of Christ. A special thank you to all the members of Center Chapel for the love and support.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 27, 2017 from 3 PM to 8 PM in the chapel of Madison Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, December 28, at Center Chapel church of Christ, 9500 Central Pike, Mt. Juliet, TN at 11 AM with visitation one hour prior to the service. Bro.
