Lynn "Houston" Harrison, age 77 of Hendersonville, TN passed on to his heavenly home on August 27, 2015. Houston was born in Hermitage, TN on December 23, 1937 to Lynn William and Mildred Eakes Harrison.
He possessed a God given creative talent in art; was musically inclined evident in early childhood. Houston's abilities far exceeded his age and continued throughout his life to define and perfect his artistic talent as a craftsman and gunsmith.
The focus of his life was his love of guns and other firearms. The flintlock rifle became his primary interest. This art of gun and long rifle building brought him nationwide attention as a notable gunsmith.
Houston's love of music was a favorite pastime. He learned to play by ear the fiddle, banjo and guitar, although not a master of any, this was, this enjoyment achievement.
Houston was a graduate of Donelson High School. His marriage to Donna Delaney in 1963 blessed him with a son and daughter. He and family made Hendersonville Home in 1969. He was a longtime member of Hendersonville First Baptist Church.
Houston is preceded in death by his parents, Lynn and Mildred Harrison; grandmother; Carrie Harrison; grandparents, Luther and Myrtle Eakes
He is survived by former spouses; Mother of his children, Donna D. Harrison and the former Annette Smith Harrison; daughter, Jennifer Harrison Wilkes; son Barry L. Harrison; grandson, Conley Harrison Wilkes; brother John Wayne (Ruth Ann) Harrison; niece Julie Harrison (Greg) Brackenbury; great nephew, Ethan Brackenbury; Aunt and Uncle, Bud and Edna Eakes; Auntm Jane Eakes; cousins and many friends.
A life celebration will be held Tuesday, September 1, 2015 at 1pm in the Chapel of Madison Funeral Home with Bro. Don Garrison officiating. Visitation will begin at 10am. Active Pallbearers are: Barry Harrison, Conley Wilkes Harrison, John Wayne Harrison, Robb Curry, Matt Kinman and Steve Roberts. Honorary Pallbearers are close longtime friends, John Barrett and Ronnie Maggart. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park.
Houston's family would to extend our thank you to Westmoreland Care and Rehab Facility for their wonderful care and support during his three year illness staff care was excellent at this 5 star facility.
