WHITAKER, MARJORIE W. died June 23, 2010 at Alive Hospice Skyline Madison Campus. Marjorie was born on November 24, 1921 in Alexandria, Egypt. She was the daughter of Alfred and Mary Wheatley. Marjorie is preceded in death by husband, William D. Whitaker, Jr.; son, Michael Keith Whitaker; sister, Chris Tremain of NZ. She is survived by grandson, Chuck Whitaker; daughter-in-law; two sisters-in-law; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to being a devoted mother and wife for 62 years, Marjorie was recognized for years of outstanding volunteer service at Madison Hospital as a past president of the Pink Ladies. In 2007, she was awarded the Mary Catherine Strobel Award as outstanding volunteer. She was a member of the Eastern Star. Although a proud British native and military veteran of WWII, Marjorie was equally proud of her citizenship in her adopted country since 1945. Marjorie's many friends were constantly amused by her British accent and enthralled by accounts of her experiences in WWII.
