Henry Ramey, III

Henry Ramey III, a resident of Nashville, Tennessee and Williamsburg, Virginia died on Friday, January 17,2020 at the age of 67. Henry is survived by his wife, Iris R. Ramey whom he referred to as the "love of his life" on March 31, 2001. He is also survived by his two adult children, Corey L. Ramey and Carmen L. Ramey. Henry was born on March 27, 1952 to Henry Ramey, Jr. and Ernestine Ramey in Jackson, TN. He graduated from Jackson High School in 1970, and Fisk University in 1975 with a BS degree in Biology. While at Fisk, some of his extra- curricular activities included being a member of the University's tennis team and he was an esteemed member of Omega Psi Phi, Fraternity, Inc. Henry often shared that the "best years of his life" were during his undergraduate years where he made many friends, shared lots of laughs, was confidant to many and established life-long relationships that extend to this day. In addition to his Bachelor's degree, Henry also received a Master's degree in Public Administration from Tennessee State University in 2004 and a Master's degree in Business Administration from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2008. After graduating from Fisk, Henry served in the United States Army for several years, subsequently becoming a Major in the US Army Reserve. His love for sciences enabled him to work as a medical technologist for over three decades at several hospitals including, Vanderbilt University Medical Center and the Medical College of Virginia located in Richmond, VA. Henry also worked the retail industry, where he and nine others proudly opened the first Brooks Brothers store in Green Hills Mall during the 1990s. His associates often remarked that he was an impeccable dresser, a gentleman who had style, grace and an awesome sense of humor. Henry Ramey III will be forever remembered as a wonderful, loving husband who loved the Lord with all his heart and soul. He will be deeply missed by family, friends and all that knew him. On Saturday, February 1, 2020 a memorial will take place at Madison Funeral Home and Pastor Jim Brown of Grace and Truth Ministries will give words of encouragement.
