On July 19, 2020, Gloria Delores “Dody” Belcher went home to be with the Lord. Dody was a wonderful Christian wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt and sister.
She led everyone who was around her for any length of time to Christ. Dody was a member of Madison Church of Christ from the early basement years until her last day. She encouraged her husband of 48 years, William T. Belcher (1934-2005), to attend early on in their marriage, where he too became a member. She established strong foundations in her three children, Billy Belcher (1958-1984), Tammy Dooley (Wally Wolentarski) and Mitzi Cripps (Will). Dody was born in Lebanon, TN the oldest of eight. Brothers and sisters: Carleen Hessel (Clyde), Val Kelley (Betty Ann), Carl Kelley (Mary), V L Kelley (Lucy), Clara Jean Panozzo (1948-2009), Margie Hearn (Mike), Cindy Batie (Steve).
Dody lived every day to the fullest like her son who went on before her. She lived and loved to laugh, but she was best at laughing at herself. Dody was an avid fisherwoman, runner, golfer and dogwalker. Her captivating smile and vivacious spirit would hold you in awe of her. Dody epitomized a beautiful Christian woman as she loved God and loved people. To know her was to love her.
Most may remember her from Sears Roebuck in Madison, TN where she was employed for over 20 plus years. Dody also worked at Care Supply, and Sunbelt Rental. Her favorite job was as a grandmother to Will Cripps (Leah), Turner Cripps and Raegan Dooley. Her world narrowed to just these grands when they were around. God blessed her with two great grandchildren in her lifetime, Callyn and Willie Cripps, IV. Dody was also blessed with many nieces and nephews whom she loved deeply.
Family and Friends are invited to join the procession, leaving Madison Funeral Home at 12:30 PM Wednesday, going to Section 16 of Spring Hill Cemetery for the 1 PM Graveside Service with Bro. Buck Dozier officiating.
