Dorothy Ann Fike

Fike, Dorothy Ann Shanks (93) of Madison, TN, passed away on (March 31, 2022). She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Herbert Fike, of sixty years; her parents, Walter & Euda Warren Shanks; her brothers, Walter Warren (Wanda Stout), Reggie (Andeline Stout, also deceased), and baby Teddy Craven Shanks. She is survived by Carolyn Vermilye (Bob), Nancy Roark (Alton), Linda Moran (Barry), and Ralph David Fike (Christy); Grandchildren, Gretchen Whaley (Ron Joe), Joshua Roark (Amanda), Victoria Vermilye, Emily Peterson (Matt), Sarah Moran, Erynn Fike, Haydynn Fike, and Matthew Moran. She is also survived by seven great grandchildren (with 2 more on the way) and brother Robert Shanks (Doris Gillen, deceased). Dorothy was a native of Putnam County, a graduate of Baxter Seminary High School and Tennessee Polytechnic Institute (TPI). After graduation she taught mathematics at Baxter Seminary 1949-1951, but her chosen career was wife, homemaker, and stay-at-home mom. She was an active member of First Baptist Church Madison since 1977, where she taught Sunday School for many years. Pallbearers: Josh Roark, Haydynn Fike, Matthew Moran, Micah Whaley, Nate Whaley and Barry Moran. Honorary Pallbearers: Robert Shanks, Bob Vermilye, Ron Joe Whaley, Beckett Roark, Gary Bodenstein, Jose Perez, and Bill Stubbs. Visitation will be on Monday, April 4th from 4:00 to 7:00 PM, followed by the service at 7:00 PM at Madison Funeral Home (219 Old Hickory Blvd, Madison TN 37115, Phone - 615-868-9020, email). Interment will be at (11:00 AM) on (April 5th) in Maddux Cemetery in Buffalo Valley, TN. In lieu of flowers Mom’s wish was for the gospel to be spread through giving to Madison First Baptist Church.
